Alexis Porfisiadis

Alexis Porfiriadis is composer, music theorist an piano player/improviser. He obtained his PhD in Composition at Bath Spa University/UK (2016, supervised by Dr. James Saunders) and his master's degree (2002) and postgraduate diploma (2003) in Composition at the University for Music and Performing Arts Graz/Austria (supervised by Beat Furrer, Gerd Kühr).
His compositions have been presented in festivals and concerts in Europe, USA Canada and Mexico.
Selected prizes and awards including 1st Prize in the Franco Evangelisti International Composition Competition 2020, 3d Prize in the Second International Composition Competition for String Quartet by Molinari Quartet 2005, State grand for Composition of the Republic of Austria and the Music Award of the city of Graz.
In 2007 he co-founded the 6daEXIt Improvisation Ensemble which is been considered the longest-living improvisation group in Greece, the WHI ensemble Athens and the composers collective Music Is Network.
